Week 4:The Lake Gallery (Final Submission)

The Lake Gallery is designed for artist Ai WeiWei (top) and Louise Bourgeois (bottom).

From Ai WeiWei's Forever Bicycle, I came out with a keyword "Infinite"

From Louise Bourgeois' Cell, I came out with a keyword "Family"

With those 2 keywords, I came out with section like this. The top is about the "infinite" circulation, while the bot is how a big "family" space is divided into several parts.

As a result, I used the keyword of "infinite" as my theme to create the above ground level for Ai WeiWei. (as the infinite cuts on the facet, and "supper long" circulation between different level)

For the below ground level, I used "family" as my theme to design the working gallery space for Louise Bourgeois. The main concept is "family comes to one point". (4 organic shapes divide the spaces in to 4 part which can come to gather in the lowest level.)

Week 4:The Lake Gallery (3 Animations)

Outside Circulation
This video is about the outside circulation of the Lake Gallery. The land shape is circular. Hence people can enter the gallery wherever and whenever they want.

Top Section
This video will show numbers of interesting cuts in each part of the building element above the ground level.

Bottom Section

Week 3:Circulation Video

21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa, Japan, Sejima+Nishizawa, SANAA

I chose this video because it shows a very complete circulation inside of 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art. At the beginning of  video, it also shows how to construct the building in perspective view.

Week 1:Sketch Up Model (Draft 1)

Above of the section drawing is about the word "infinite" and below in "family". Base on the section, I have created a draft model in Google Sketch Up.

Week 1:18 Section Drawings

The Artists I have chosen are Ai Weiwei and Louise Bourgeois. 18 sections have been created based on the key words of their artworks.
